Python language to automate your creations and let your robots conquer the challenges while you kick back and relax! Using Steam’s built-in community workshop features, you can share your masterpieces with other robotics geniuses, or download others’ robots for inspiration and remixing! Designed from the ground up to support both desktop and VR play, seamlessly switch between both modes with the click of a button! There’s something incredibly satisfying about the moment where your kooky robot idea/design works *exactly* as you’d hoped and you feel like a genius inventor. The building mechanics are easy to pick up but also incredibly deep and powerful – not to mention the coloring system, which is practically a paint program unto itself – so you can basically build anything you can imagine (my only gripe on this front is that I wish there wasn’t a bounding box in sandbox mode).
there are 3 key things that set this game apart from other sandbox builders out there:
The challenges. Each challenge level has a main objective, 2 sub-objectives, and a bunch of secret objectives (which aren’t actually all that secret). I know some people invent their own objectives in games like this but I really appreciate that the devs gave me tons of interesting – and often whimsical – goals and reasons to build different types of robots. Sometimes you can reuse robots with minor tweaks but for the most part the objective diversity keeps you on your toes and requires you to design totally different robots. The humans! Besides being charming, the humans add a dynamic quality to the environments that’s uncommon for the genre. Watching the humans react to my robo-shenanigans is just awesome and never gets old. Robo Revenge Squad
As much as it’s gratifying when things go according to plan, it’s often more fun when they don’t, thanks in large part to the derpy humans. Sort of an extension of #2, but there’s a unique comedic tone that permeates the game. IDK how to describe it except to say that other sandbox games are often funny/lighthearted while RoboCo is, like, gut-laugh hilarious. This game is a great experience when you’re learning how to build and program your robots to solve tasks from simple errands to deforestation. Personally, I feel like the options to control components using the in game options are too simple compared to the options available when programming your robot using python, but for simple projects and robots the in game options are more than adequate.
RoboCo Great new sandbox game.
Quite opposite to a bunch of other sandbox games the developers got basically everything right concerning the build editor which is the most important part, of course. It has all the relevant manipulation techniques you need in 3D space and uses visualizations just like in a 3D modeling program. If you ever did anything in ne of those you’ll feel right at home. You can do everything very efficiently and without being cumbersome. Very good campaign so far. Challenging and fun. Lots of cool ideas and secrets. Looking forward to what the future of the game will bring. Don’t be fooled by it’s look and the first tutorial, the game physics and mechanics is decent. It feels like Kerbal Space Program but on earth (and You can smash a Pinata here but not in KSP). Roboquest
I am actually amazed by how seemingly complicated stuff was incorporated into the game in such an interesting way. I especially love the intuitive UI design, which allows you to easily tinker with even advanced properties of parts. The campaign seems a bit short now for me but I believe with a very good foundation already established, it is very likely that quality content would be updated regularly. Highly recommend. Another aspect of the game that brings mainly joy is the silliness, both from the physics and environment. Yes, sometimes I was able to send my robot careening through the testing space due to a servo being slightly too fast, but boy was it fun to watch fly. At its current state, the game is amazing, and the developers are still working to add more levels, challenges, and parts
A quick first impression of this game is that it’s delightfully designed with its clean minimalist style and playful physics.
Still getting used to rotating the camera/objects, but I’m a big fan of test driving my poor robot who’s subjected to my lack of scientific common sense meets my relentless drive to problem solve/complete puzzles. Definitely hoping to find more time to explore the various challenges in-game. Pretty great so far, I’d heard a lot about the solid construction/customization features for building the robots in this game (and that indeed not disappoint) but I was not expecting how goofy and funny it is too just messing with all the hapless folks that get in the way of your diy horror bots. Great puzzles, super deep and solid building mechanics. Would love to be able to mirror work in the builder and found it weirdly hard to just keep things centred. Robonauts
on the build pad but overall definitely looking forward to seeing how this grows This game is everything I want and more. you can literally do anything an this game. the microcontrollers add a whole new depth to the game. its a very fun game with adorable characters and robots. the physics works well. when i played the demo in ‘next festival’, it was quite buggy but now its lot better. I really like this game despite a little lack of diversity in the activities, I would really like to see races, fights or other in multiplayer. Overall I find it quite easy and intuitive to learn, we get to the result we wanted quite easily. It may be missing a little information on the advanced parameters of accessories, piston and others.
